Description

The Resegone ring is a classic hiking route. Done by MTB it is almost a cyclo-mountaineering itinerary since there are some passages that are a bit tricky to do with the bike on your back. It is advisable not to do it alone to help with the more difficult passages.

The tour starts from Brumano in the Imagna Valley. You start by pedaling on asphalt on a narrow road theoretically closed to traffic because it is untested. At the highest point of this narrow road you say goodbye to the road riders and take the dirt forest road, always rideable with never prohibitive gradients, to Costa del Palio. In between you can look for support at the Grande Faggio refuge and the Resegone refuge, not exactly on the trail but easily reached in a few minutes.

From the Costa del Palio the trail becomes a path, always rideable, on a false level to the Forbesette spring passing by the Palio vent (S0, S1). From the spring the trail points to the Giuff Pass. The trail starts climbing again and is not always easily pedaled (S1). Downhill would be feasible but, alas, we have to do it in the opposite direction.

From Giuff Pass we descend to Piani d'Erna on a trail that is initially very steep and generally not easy (S3 the first few meters, then S1). The nosepress would be a must if you want to do it all in the saddle. At Piani d'Erna there are two support points in case of difficulty: there is the arrival of the cable car from Lecco and the Marchett refuge.

From Piani d'Erna the most difficult section begins: this is the traverse to Passo del Fò. the trail continually forces you to grab the bike to climb over steps, stepping stones and small rocks. About halfway up this traverse there are fixed ropes and chains and a fairly exposed section where it is advisable to secure yourself and pass your bike. These are only a few meters that, however, it is best not to underestimate. After the equipped section, the trail becomes rideable in places until the Fò Pass. At Passo del Fò there is a small hut (Capanna Ghislandi).

From Passo del Fò you descend in a few minutes to Capanna Monza on a not very easy trail, ideal for nosepress and natural drop lovers (S3).

From Capanna Monza continue on trail (S1, S2) up and down to La Passata, a border point between the Republic of Venice and the Duchy of Milan celebrated by a boundary stone. Briefly you also reach La Porta from which you descend on trail (S2 with S3 steps) to Brumano and the starting point.
