Da Porsmork hut a Vik
We leave early from the Porsmork lodge because we have a long day ahead of us where we will hike the famous Fimmvorduhals trail and the pass of the same name that will take us to Skogar Waterfall and over the sea to Vik.
This stage involves crossing between the 2 glaciers, which could result in some significant discomfort when the season is not consolidated....
In August we passed over snowy sections but no big deal. Some sections of the trail were challenging with bikes on our backs ( but not much).
Starting from Porsmork we rise on trail that gains us a breathtaking pedalable panoramic balcony . Next up for the tricky part up to the pass where we diverted to the hut descending on trail tracks is freeride until reconnecting with the main trail that took us up to the wonderful Skogar waterfall
From here on asphalt we headed to Vik making a detour on the beach to go take pictures with the carcass of a plane that crashed right here that has become one of the most photographed places in Iceland.
We arrived in Vik at 9 p.m. in pouring rain for the last 2 hours.
Here is the trailer link of the trip....
