Hveragerdi to Reykjavik with volcano ascent Vifilsfell

Last leg of the Iceland trip . Yesterday Afternoon from Vik after photographing the Puffins by bus we moved to Hveragerdi and in the evening we went back along its river to have a hot bath with the setting sun.

This morning we set off in the direction of Reykjavik where we will return and then return to Italy.

The first section is on dirt road and then instead we will have a very long and fantastic trail to the suburbs of Reykjavik....at least that was the plan....

During the ride, on a cold but beautiful day, a peak appears on the left.....I think about it for a moment...I look at the maps...I decide to vary the trail to get closer and better assess....and here I can't resist.....it's called Vifilsfell volcano too inviting for a day that could only be a transfer day.

Having reached below lightened our luggage we climb to the summit realizing it will be a difficult descent.

The ascent passes on a dismal bottom , on steep lava slabs and on an equipped section where we have to pass our bikes. From the summit we can see the Reykjavik sea and beyond but the descent maroooooo what a gas !!! Vertical sections on slabs with absurd grip and then surfing on smosso....

Back to the base we change again for a track spotted from the top but not marked in the maps that with SONTUOSOUS ST takes us to a hill where we take a wonderful and in parts technical , very pedaled ST until Reykjavik . We reach the hostel by going directly from ST to bike paths and enjoy the last few rides of this wonderful trip to ICELAND. Also today the day was at the TOP
