From Rjupnavellir to Landmannalaugar

Day one of the traveling tour starting at the Rjupnavellir campsite hut and ending at the Landmannarlaugar hut.

After 2 days of rain we set off in light bikepacking mode (handlebar bag and frame) for a beautiful ride along a fantastic riverside trail. Thus we arrive avoiding the bitumen at the beginning of the F225 dirt road leading to Landmannarlaugar.

The environment immediately changes and we pedal along the desolate road.

We have to ford a couple of rivers that don't give us any particular problems and we continue toward the middle that we could easily reach by road, but we are not here for that.

At a fork in the road we take a path that at times pedaled and much pushing takes us to a col where we lighten the unnecessary weight leaving bags etc...to continue shoulder pushing toward the summit of Haalda. Reaching the top elated by the view and.colors we return back to the col with the beautiful trail . We reload and with weighted bikes climb shoulder to another summit named Surdunamur. Now it will be just downhill on panoramic ridge and stupendous trail with unimaginable views marked by panic colors and contrasts that can only be found in such an exclusive place.

We arrive late at the lodge and enjoy a bath in the warm geothermal waters of the stream next door.
